My plant does not look like the one on the website.

Please be aware that your plant may vary from the image on our website as this is a living item.

Variations of shape and colour are perfectly natural and to be expected.

Your plant might be sent out slightly less advanced (a bit greener and smaller) than what you see on the website – this is to make sure you get the most flowering time possible in your garden.

We will send you a plant as closely matched to the picture and description as possible.

Delivery

How long will delivery take?

Once your parcels have shipped, you can expect delivery the next day. We ship parcels for delivery Monday to Friday.

When you order, your product will have a ‘Delivery within’ window, if it isn’t available now. Whilst we aim to deliver all products within their specified window, they are live and have a mind of their own, so if they are growing a little quicker/slower you might find your delivery is a week or two either side of this. If this happens, we will do our best to keep you updated via email.

Do I have to be in when you deliver?

No you don’t! Whilst of course it is better if you are, we ask the driver to leave the parcels in a safe place if no one is in, or to follow your delivery instructions you have in place with the courier.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery costs £5.95 for orders under £75, or free for orders of £75 and over!

Do you offer free delivery?

Potting

Do you pot the plants for me?

Your plants will arrive in a grower pot. For outdoor plants, this will be a paper-based pot that is biodegradable and can either be put in a compost bin, or it can be kept on the plant and planted directly into the soil. Indoor plants are supplied in a plastic grower pot so you can put them straight into your own decorative pots.

How would I re pot my plants?

Please see our handy guide on repotting plants here, where one of our growers will run you through everything on how to successfully repot your plants.

Picking the right plants

Will my outdoor plants survive all year round?

This completely depends – further information can be found on our plant care pages, or on the product page itself. Typically, perennial plants will survive all year round if cared for suitably, however bedding plants will not as they are tender and seasonal.

Are my plants child/pet friendly?

Some plants can be harmful to pets if ingested. Before buying your plant, please check out our blog or ask one of our experts if your plant is safe for your pets. You can filter our product range by ‘Pet safe’ for our full range.

How long will my plants last for?

This depends on so many things! Firstly, what type of plant it is. Bedding plants will typically last a season, whereas some perennial plants and shrubs will last for years to come. It also depends on how well the plant is looked after – check out our plant care guides here to find out more specific care information to give your plant the best chance of thriving!

What size will my plants arrive as, and how big will they grow to?

All of our plants have their own plant care pages which will show the estimate height the plant arrives at and what they could grow to.

Plant care

Can you help me look after my plant?

We have plenty of blogs and videos to help you look after your plant or you can contact our experts if you can’t find the answer you are looking for. Take a look at our Plant Care Guides for our top tips!

Will my plants survive if I go on holiday?

With a thorough soaking before you leave, grouping plants together in a shady spot your plants should survive for 7 days. Better still, why not ask a friendly neighbour to give your outdoor plants a water every now and again.

For indoor plants, these should be ok for a week or two; try not to overwater before you go, and just be sure to move them into a cooler spot in the house and out of direct sunlight while you are away.

Are your plants easy to keep?

There are a number of plants that are low-maintenance. Take a look at our ‘beginner friendly’ range of plants. We also supply weekly blogs, plant care guides, email tips & tricks and our team is always willing to help!

I think my plant is dying! Help!

First thing – don’t panic! Check out our handy guides for indoor and outdoor plants. Quite often, overwatering is the number one culprit for plants dying, so just be mindful of this in advance… prevention is better than the cure after all!

I have a reputation for killing plants. Is the Growers for me?

Absolutely – we pride ourselves on offering you the best advice in the industry. Who better to learn from than our super growers?

On top of that, as your plants will be delivered to you ‘garden ready’, they have the best start in life that they can – a lot of the hard growing work is done by our growers here in our greenhouse! There is no growing from a small plug plant to worry about, no greenhouses required – all you need is you, somewhere to plant and some time (a cuppa also helps!)

I don’t know anything about gardening or plants, can you help me?

Of course – we have a range of guides that our Super Growers have compiled, to help guide you along your first steps into gardening. Check them out here and if you have any further questions, please feel free to drop them an email on hello@wearethegrowers.co.uk and they will be happy to help with any questions you may have.

Where are your plants grown?

All of our outdoor plants are grown here at our greenhouse in Lincolnshire – all 60 acres of it! We are proud to grow in one of the largest, most sustainable greenhouses in Europe.

Some of our indoor plants are also grown here in the UK in our greenhouses, but for some more specialist varieties that require certain conditions, we source these from our growing partners in Europe.

I opened my box, and the plants are looking tired. What do I do?

This is completely normal – they have been on a bit of a journey! Follow the instructions on the card in your box and give them a little drink and leave them to perk up a bit.

Better still, once they have perked up after their drink, get them into the soil (if they are outdoor plants) and they can start feeding on the nutrients in the soil. For indoor plants, get them into a decorative pot and pop them somewhere light for a few days, before taking them to their new home.

How soon after receiving my delivery do I need to plant my plants?

Ideally as soon as possible, but they will be ok for a few days in the pot. Follow the instructions on the welcome card in your box and then you can be sure if you need to leave them for a few days, they will be ok. Just be sure to take them out of the box and tear down the sleeves, so they can breathe a bit.

How often should I water my plants?

This completely depends on so many factors – how hot it is, whether they are indoor or outdoor, if they are in a container, hanging basket or planted directly into the ground, and even which variety they are.

The rule of thumb for almost every plant is do not overwater – plants are good at telling you when they need a drink (their leaves will go a bit droopy) so when you see this, if the soil is a bit dry then the chances are they need a little water.

For indoor plants, always do the finger test – if the top two cm of compost are dry, then give it a drink. If not, maybe check back in a couple of days.

Are your seeds genetically modified?

No, we do not use any genetically modified seeds or young plants. We work with breeders who have a history of breeding using traditional methods and therefore produce some of the highest quality, non-GM plants.
